Eternal Rest Landry, God Bless

Landry joined the club under Tony Mowbray on a year long loan deal from French side Nancy in 2009.

The 42 times capped Cameroon international made 35 appearances for the club in a season tinged with disappointment.

As a holding midfielder the spotlight was always on Landry, and he acquitted himself well and was highly regarded by the supporters.

When Neil Lennon who took over temporarily after the sacking of Tony Mowbray, was appointed on a permanent basis he was still keen to make Landry’s stay more permanent, but unfortunately an agreement couldn’t be reached with Nancy to bring the midfielder back to Glasgow.

Landry went on to have a decent career playing for Bordeaux and St Etienne back in France as well as spells in Turkey and Norway.

He also represented his country in the 2014 World Cup. Landry may not have been at the club for a lengthy spell, but news of his death is a shock that saddens every Celtic supporter.
