Everton’s search for a striker has not gone smoothly, with competition for forwards across the league making things even more difficult this window.
The Blues are still chasing their first win of the year, having already played three matches in 2026. Their next opportunity comes against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday.
Goals have been hard to come by. Everton have managed just four in their opening three games of the new year, and David Moyes has struggled to find answers from his current forward options.
Moyes has relied on Thierno Barry and Beto so far this season, but neither has offered much consistency or production in front of goal.
Now two weeks into the window, Everton find themselves competing with other Premier League clubs for targets, which may slow down an already difficult search.
Everton are said to be interested in Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen as a potential signing this month.
The Norwegian is reportedly attracting attention from several clubs, and Leeds have joined the growing list of suitors.
According to TeamTalk, Daniel Farke’s side are weighing up a possible move for the 24-year-old, who fits the profile they are seeking.
Nottingham Forest have also been linked with Strand Larsen, while Wolves look set to drop into the Championship next season.
The report adds that Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham are all keeping tabs on him as well. With Everton struggling at home this season, David Moyes is determined to strengthen his attacking options before the deadline passes.
But with time running out and competition from other clubs increasing, securing a deal won’t be straightforward for Everton.
Wolves are having a tough time of it this season, and Strand Larsen has not managed to replicate the form that saw him score 14 goals last term.
Still, the 24-year-old forward is attracting plenty of interest across the Premier League this month.
There are quite a few clubs eyeing a move for him. He is rated around £40m, and Alan Shearer even had good things to say about him after Newcastle reportedly made bids in the past.
Everton are also keeping tabs on Youssef En-Nesyri. But with no prior experience in English football, there may be some hesitation from Moyes and his recruitment team to take that gamble again.
Strand Larsen’s recent form has not been convincing either, but some clubs believe he could thrive again if put into a better set-up.
