Last season, Everton finished 13th place in the Premier League, hoping next year to end higher up the table.
While this matched their position from the season before, climbing up from 16th, 17th and 15th from the years before that, it’s still some way off the top-half finishes the club were so used to only ten years ago.
As such, the club are now looking to prepare for next season, with the likes of West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney key to their transfer plans.
However, this summer, the side’s Women’s team are also experiencing a massive shake-up, with six players leaving the club.
In a statement on their official website, Everton explained: “Katja Snoeijs, Emily Ramsey, Toni Payne, Kenzie Weir, Melissa Lawley and Elise Stenevik will leave Everton upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of this month.”
Of the six, Emily Ramsey may be known to Manchester United fans, having left United to join Everton in 2022 for a loan-season before making the temporary move permanent.
Commenting on her time at Everton, the statement read: “The shot-stopper [Emily Ramsey] stole the show at Goodison Park in October as her two penalty saves inspired Everton to victory in a shootout against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.”
It continued: “A popular character in the changing room, ‘Rambo’ brought the best out of fellow keeper Courtney Brosnan while forming one of the WSL’s strongest ‘goalkeeper unions’.”
Speaking on behalf of the club, former Manchester United academy manager Nick Cox, now in his role as Everton Technical Director, thanked all six departures for their time at the club.
Cox commented: “Everyone at Everton thanks all our departing players for their efforts, service and commitment during their time with the Club and we wish them the very best for the future as they move onto the next stage of their careers.”
