This is an Everton predicted lineup for their opening Premier League tie with Leeds United. The Monday Night Football clash will see David Moyes take on the newly promoted Daniel Farke in what could be a very interesting clash. The Whites have made moves over the summer to become a more physically imposing side, something that Moyes usually excels at.
They started their final friendly with Jordan Pickford in goal, James Tarkowski, Jake O’Brien, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Vitali Mykolenko as the back four. Idirssa Gueye was partnered in the double pivot by James Garner. New signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall played as the connector in the number ten spot, Iliman Ndiaye and Carlos Alcarez were the wingers with new signing Thierno Barry up front.
In the penultimate friendly with Manchester United the lineup was mostly the same save for a handful of changes. Michael Keane came in to the back line for that one, Beto got the nod as the starting striker, and Tim Iroegbunam came into a midfield three.
4-3-3 used against the Red Devils aside, Moyes tends to set up in a 4-2-3-1 that sometimes shifts into a 4-1-4-1 depending on the game state. His tactics have been shifted by some new signings with Dewsbury-Hall being a technically proficient player who can roam into open space, he’s a very different profile to what the Toffees are used to seeing and he could be key to making Barry click up front.
Luckily for Everton, pre-season is mostly a matter of fitness as they failed to win a single fixture. They lost to Premier League rivals like West Ham, United, Bournemouth, and even Blackburn Rovers. They ended the last league campaign on a solid run and will be hoping to pick that form back up.
According to PremierInjuries, there’s only one absentee but he is a key one. Branthwaite suffered an injury in training and is expected to miss the first few matches of the new term.
