Hakan Calhanoglu showed signs of improvement with his performance in yesterday’s draw between Napoli and Inter Milan before being forced off with an injury.

The Turk received relatively positive scores in the player ratings for the match, via TuttoMercatoWeb. They highlight the unfortunate timing of his injury.

Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu started for Inter Milan yesterday evening.

The 31-year-old has been available for a month now. However, for much of February, he was not at his best.

Therefore, there were doubts about whether Calhanoglu would really be able to keep up in a tough midfield battle against Inter’s title rivals Napoli.

Hakan Calhanoglu gave some clear signs that he is getting back to his best, though.

While there were no telling contributions in attack from the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, he certainly kept things ticking over.

Moreover, Calhanoglu looked fresher than he has physically at virtually any point since coming back from a calf injury.

Therefore, it was unfortunate that Calhanoglu picked up an injury.

The Turkish international took a blow to his thigh from the knee of Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay. This came during a physical challenge between the two midfielders.

It was such a sore one for Calhanoglu. That he wasn’t able to play more than five minutes in the second half. He had to come off.
