Yann Sommer was a “human wall” for Inter Milan in yesterday’s 2-2 Serie A draw against Lazio.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Yann Sommer took up his usual position in goal for Inter Milan against Lazio yesterday.
The 36-year-old has proven to be a reliable pair of hands for the Nerazzurri.
Sommer had particularly shone with his displays against Barcelona in the Champions League.
Those heroics against the Blaugranas meant that Sommer got a rest in Inter’s league outings against Hellas Verona and Torino.
However, Sommer returned to the starting eleven yesterday.
Yann Sommer was not able to prevent Inter from dropping two extremely costly points.
However, the Swiss did prevent it from being an even worse result for the Nerazzurri.
The Corriere highlight Sommer’s excellent save on Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen in an extremely dangerous one-on-one in the first half.
Then, Sommer looked comfortable overall in claiming crosses and dealing with danger.
On Pedro’s late penalty for Lazio, Sommer did guess the right way. However, his dive was just not enough to get to the ball, as the Spaniard’s effort was right into the side netting.
