Ex-LA Galaxy Star Rips MLS Over Lionel Messi's Absence In All-Star Game

The MLS All-Stars vs Liga All-Stars turned out to be a frustrating affair with multiple top stars failing to show up for the game. While all eyes were on the reignited clash between Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi, the Argentine's decision to skip the match left many with a sour taste following the final whistle.

With Messi missing out on the game without a justified claim, experts and fans were hoping to see Major League Soccer take stiff action against the player. However, it seems like Inter Miami has once again strong-armed out of the situation, with both Messi and Jordi Alba avoiding any potential suspension.

MLS questioned over Lionel Messi's absence

Talking on ESPN Futbol American, former LA Galaxy star Alejandro Moreno ripped into MLS Commissioner Don Garber for failing to get La Pulga to feature in the All-Star game. “Whatever rules Don Garber is talking about, they do not apply to Lionel Messi. When you build this house of cards around Lionel Messi, in which he is the most important player, in which he is MLS. Then, that guy doesn’t show up at your showpiece event. It devalues the value of your own showpiece event.”

Moreno further added that Messi's absence from the game had taken all attention from the fixture, and all everyone can do is talk about why the Argentine did not play in the game.
