Inter Milan veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan has reportedly sustained a blow during the club’s training session on Thursday.

According to FcInterNews, the club held a practice session today in the presence of 50 people in attendance. These guests represented the club’s various sponsors.

However, the session ended early for Mkhitaryan who picked up a knock during a mini-match between the ranks.

As the source tells it, the Armenian left the training ground with an ice pack on his ankle.

The report describes it as a precautionary measure on the part of the technical staff who didn’t want to risk aggravating the blow.

Despite his relatively advanced playing age, the former Man United and Arsenal star has been one of the most consistent players at Inter this season. This is both in terms of appearances and performances.

Mkhitaryan has already taken part in 36 of the club’s 37 league fixtures this season, with the vast majority as a starter. He has contributed with two goals and 10 assists.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if the midfielder will recover in time to feature in the club’s final contest of the season. Simone Inzaghi’s men will take on Hellas Verona away from home on Sunday night.

The Nerazzurri had already won the Serie A title with five matches to spare. They have also lifted the Scudetto trophy last weekend following their 1-1 draw against Lazio.

Nevertheless, the newly-crowned Italian champions will be looking to end this memorable campaign on a high note.

In the meantime, the technical staff will be keeping a close eye on Mkhitaryan’s condition. The veteran will be hoping to recover from this blow and prove his fitness to earn a call-up for the season finale.
