Inter Milan veteran Matteo Darmian only had words of praise for his captain Lautaro Martinez and head coach Simone Inzaghi.

The 34-year-old was an integral part of the squad that went on to lift the Serie A title after dominating the league from start to finish.

The Italy international started the campaign as a defender in Inzaghi’s three-man backline.

But following Denzel Dumfries’ injury in December, he became the coach’s first choice on the right wing. He managed to hold onto the role even following the Dutchman’s return.

Nevertheless, Lautaro Martinez has been the one stealing the headlines throughout the campaign.

The Argentine become the club’s captain at the start of the season following the departure of Samir Handanovic and other senior squad members.

The veteran enjoyed his most prolific campaign with the Nerazzurri, leading the Serie A scoring charts from the start of the season.

Darmian also had honeyed words when talking about Nerazzurri manager Simone Inzaghi.

“He is a pleasant person, as well as being a great coach. At the right moment, he manages to give you that serenity that sometimes is required.

“As a player, you work even better with serenity. Victories help too. These are important ingredients when building a winning team and aiming for great objectives”.
