Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou can still end the trophy drought at N17

There are a lot of question marks over Ange Postecoglou’s future at N17. The Lilywhites have endured a disastrous domestic campaign and the Australian has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons in recent months. The North London club has now registered 19 league defeats this season and it is likely that Big Ange’s tenure at the club is coming to an end.

However, the ex-Celtic boss still has the chance to do the unthinkable and end the season on a high. Spurs face the prospect of finishing just a place above the relegation zone in the Premier League, as well as, win the Europa League in the same season. It would be an extraordinary achievement by Big Ange if he manages to lead the team towards silverware.

Winning the Europa League would also mean that the Lilywhites play Champions League football next season. A lot is on the line for Ange Postecoglou and his players. Fans will hope that the 59-year-old manages to end the club’s trophy drought this season and bring silverware back to N17.

Gary Neville backs Ange Postecoglou to lead Tottenham to glory

Ange Postecoglou’s fate at Tottenham is hanging by a thread. The Australian is likely to be sacked by Spurs at the end of the season. The only way the 59-year-old can save his job is by winning the Europa League this season. After enduring a lot of criticism in recent months, it is fair to say that the ex-Celtic boss is feeling the heat. It feels like everyone wants Big Ange’s team to fail this season.

Now, Gary Neville is also backing the Spurs manager to win the Europa League. The ex-England international said on the It’s Called Soccer podcast,

“Ange did promise us a trophy in his second season. [If he wins it] It is going to be the biggest middle finger in English football history, and do you know something? I think I will join him on that one! I think it would be amazing!”

Gary Neville believes if Ange Postecoglou manages to win the Europa League with Tottenham, then it would be an amazing achievement. The Man United legend also said that everyone wants Big Ange to fail, so winning the competition would be the biggest middle finger to everyone who has doubted him. However, Neville believes that Daniel Levy has already made up his mind on Ange Postecoglou and he will face the sack regardless.

Tottenham have started looking for managerial replacements for next season already. Everything points towards Bog Ange getting sacked once the season ends. The Lilywhites have shortlisted Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, and Fulham coach Marco Silva as potential replacement options.

It is going to be an uphill battle for Big Ange to save his job. But the ex-Celtic boss must first focus on finishing the season on a high. His team are withing touching distance of reaching the finals of the Europa League, and face Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of the semi-finals. The first leg ended 3-1 in Tottenham’s favour, so the Lilywhites are favourites to defend a two-goal lead in the return leg in Norway.
