Direct talks have intensified today between Inter and Cagliari over Sebastiano Esposito, who could make the move on loan with obligation to buy for €7m.
We had already given you the details of the first unexpected approach several days ago to yesterday morning’s sudden surge from the Sardinians.
Now we can confirm that the day has seen in depth negotiations between the two clubs and they are edging closer to an agreement.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with Empoli, where he scored eight goals in 33 Serie A appearances, plus two in four Coppa Italia matches.
Obviously, as his contract is due to expire in June 2026, Inter would need to extend his deal first before giving the all clear to the transfer.
This would allow Cagliari to make it a loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for a total fee of circa €7m.
In turn, this provides that extra financial boost that the Nerazzurri need to push their offer for Ademola Lookman over the edge and satisfy Atalanta.
