Following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, Michael Carrick was formally named the new head coach of Manchester United.
A few days prior to the Leeds United draw, Amorim had a major argument with sporting director Jason Wilcox, which ultimately resulted in his dismissal.
Carrick’s side beat Manchester City 2-0 in a fantastic fashion, making his first game a huge success.
The Africa Cup of Nations involved Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, and Noussair Mazraoui, which began on the 15th of December.
Luckily for United, Mbeumo and Amad returned in time for the Manchester Derby, with Mbeumo even scoring the second goal.
Now, Carrick’s side are set to have another boost with Mazraoui.
CentreDevils understands that Noussair Mazraoui is set to return for Manchester United’s game against Arsenal on the 25th January.
The club will give the Morocco international a few days of rest, but he is scheduled back to training next week.
Morocco plays Senegal tomorrow in the AFCON final.
He will be a massive boost for the Reds and will give an option as the right-back in the back four.
United have been short in the attacking front in recent weeks, especially from transitioning to a traditional front three.
In Amorim’s three-back system, there were two number 10s who played more on the inside with a striker in front of them.
Darren Fletcher was the interim head coach, and he played a front three with two wingers who played wide.
Mbeumo and Amad’s returns will also be crucial, as they are both natural wingers.
Diogo Dalot has faced some criticism in recent weeks due to his performances at right-back.
Mazraoui’s return could also be a positive for the Portuguese international, as it could help push him due to the competition.
The Red Devils face a tough game in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal next week and will be preparing hard in training.
