Torino have an opportunity to sign left-back Cristiano Biraghi from Fiorentina for a minimal fee in the summer transfer window, but that option could be scrapped if Stefano Pioli is to return to Tuscany this summer.

What potential Pioli return means for Fiorentina, Torino and Biraghi

Biraghi joined Torino on loan with an option to buy from Fiorentina at the end of the January transfer window. Football Italia can confirm that Torino’s option to buy stands at just €100,000 for the experienced defender, who spent seven-and-a-half years with the Viola.

However, while there is an option to buy included in Torino’s deal with Fiorentina, Biraghi still has the final say on the matter.

The 32-year-old remains under contract for another year with Fiorentina; his deal expiring in  the summer of 2026.

And if Pioli returns to the Stadio Artemio Franchi for a second spell as head coach this summer, Biraghi could be tempted into returning as well, given the strong relationship between the coach and player.

Pioli has been linked with a move to return to Fiorentina once his spell with Al-Nassr comes to an end, and has also been mentioned as a possible option for the Italy national team head coach role following Luciano Spalletti’s departure.
