Tottenham Hotspur could witness a massive squad overhaul this summer following an underwhelming 2024/25 Premier League season.
The North Londoners have been languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table for several months now, and there is no hiding from the fact that this has their worst-ever top-flight campaign.
Many key players have struggled to consistently perform this season, with an injury crisis playing a big role in it. Ange Postecoglou’s future has been up in the air for quite some time now, and it is believed that he will be sacked at the end of season, even if he guides Spurs to continental success. A couple of Tottenham stars have also been linked with an exit ahead of the summer transfer window.
Atletico Madrid have made their interest in Cristian Romero clear in recent weeks, and the central defender also appears keen to join Diego Simeone’s forces next season. As a result, Tottenham are refusing to rule out the possibility of selling Romero during the forthcoming transfer window and signing a quality replacement.
Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Romero by Tottenham. The North London club have been keeping tabs on the young defender ahead of a possible swoop.
Having arrived at Inter Milan from German side Aarhus in July 2023, Yann Bisseck has slowly grown into an important player for Simone Inzaghi. The 24-year-old has been a key part of the Inter Milan backline that overcame Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate to reach the UEFA Champions League earlier this week.
Now, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Bisseck’s future at the Giuseppe Meazza amid interest from Tottenham. The Italian transfer guru has confirmed that clubs in England are looking at the German defender, but nothing is advanced at this stage.
“There are clubs in England and also in Bundesliga, but from what I heard nothing is advanced at this stage. It’s not an imminent deal,” Fabrizio Romano wrote in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
Bisseck has impressed in a three-man defence under Inzaghi, helping the Nerazzurri in their pursuit of retaining the Serie A crown. The Cologne-born talent is a versatile defender, capable of operating as a part of back three, in a flat back four, as a right-back and wing-back. Such flexible nature often adds more value to a player, making him an enticing prospect for top clubs.
However, Inter are ready to sell Bisseck for €55m this summer, and with the likes of Manchester United and West Ham United also in the mix for his signature, the Tottenham chiefs must up their ante if they are serious in landing the one-cap Germany international.
