Manchester United fans have been waiting a while for the club to announce Bryan Mbeumo as their latest signing, and the wait doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
The forward has already agreed personal terms with United, but the two clubs are still finalising a deal. Brentford are believed to be holding out for £65m, which is £15m more than what was initially reported.
Mbeumo hasn’t hidden his frustration over the lack of progress. According to reports from France, he’s asked Brentford to let him leave and join Manchester United.
United have already had two bids turned down but appear close to agreeing a £65m fee for Mbeumo. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now provided another update on where things stand.
Amorim wanted Mbeumo in place before the squad headed out for their pre-season tour of the United States. Now it looks like things might be moving in that direction.
Romano’s latest update indicates that an agreement could be reached soon, with both sides now working through the final details of the transfer.
“Mbeumo still wants to go to Manchester United and the club maintain their confidence and optimism to get the green light to sign Mbeumo in the coming days,” he said.
“United keep working, keep negotiating, and keep advancing to find the right deal. They are working on easy and difficult add-ons to make Brentford happy with their final proposal.
“So the Mbeumo deal is absolutely alive, with Manchester United prepared to push again in negotiations.”
The drawn-out negotiations over Bryan Mbeumo appear to be nearing an end, with Manchester United and Brentford now ironing out the last details of the deal.
Mbeumo has stayed away from Brentford training as he waits for the move to go through.
There’s growing expectation that a deal will soon be completed, with United prepared to pay around £65m to bring Mbeumo in.
If everything is wrapped up soon, Mbeumo could feature in United’s opening pre-season match against Leeds United in Sweden on July 19th.
He’s also expected to join up with the squad for their tour of the United States, where they’ll take part in the Premier League Summer Series.
