It emerged yesterday that FC Barcelona had reached an agreement in principle with Manchester United to sign talented English attacker Marcus Rashford. The player will be joining the Catalan club on loan with an option to buy.
Further information emerged on the deal that revealed Barcelona had a €35m buy option to sign Rashford permanently next summer. It also emerged that the Catalan club would be paying the entire salary for the Englishman which was expected to be around €10m-gross, including bonuses.
Now, as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the buy-option that Barcelona have to sign the 27-year-old permanently is €30m, as opposed to the previously understood €35m. The salary figure is expected to be slightly higher at €14m-gross.

Romano has mentioned that Rashford will be taking a 15% pay cut to join Barcelona this summer. There are also bonuses linked to appearances included in the deal that could be triggered if the Englishman emerges an important part of Flick’s plans.
The player is now set to land in Spain and it is expected that he would undergo his medical tomorrow before linking up with the squad. Rashford is also expected to be on the plane to Asia to take part in the pre-season tour.
Considering all the details of the deal, it is fair to say that Barcelona have negotiated some very favourable terms to sign Rashford this summer. With their financial situation, they have managed to pull off quite the coup.
The 27-year-old left-winger is a signing that is coming to the club with almost no risk. Should it not work out, the club could always choose not to trigger the buy option but if the move works out, the Barcelona can sign Rashford on a bargain.
It remains to be seen how Rashford integrates into the Barcelona setup and if he finds a way to emerge as a starter in the current XI. The next few weeks are important for the Englishman to settle and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
