Fabrizio Romano has reported that one Manchester United player will remain an important part of Ruben Amorim’s plans for the 2025-26 Premier League season.

Ruben Amorim is starting to settle in at Old Trafford, with Manchester United picking up three straight Premier League wins under his management.

The 40-year-old faced heavy criticism early in the campaign after a slow start, but recent results have helped ease some of that pressure.

The team now sits just one point outside the top four, showing signs of improvement as they look to climb the table.

Their latest victory came against Brighton, adding to earlier wins over Sunderland and Liverpool this month. The turnaround has come at a good time, helping to steady things for Amorim after a tough start.

Fabrizio Romano shares Kobbie Mainoo update with transfer window approaching

Kobbie Mainoo has struggled for regular playing time at Manchester United this season, slipping down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.

The 20-year-old from Stockport has made seven appearances in the Premier League so far, but all have come off the bench rather than from the start.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, Fabrizio Romano has noted that there’s growing interest in both Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee’s situations.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: “Also, guys, I wanted to mention [that] as we say in the January market is coming, the movements are coming.”

“Well, one of the players that we have to follow for the January transfer window is for sure Kobbie Mainoo.”

“Kobbie Mainoo, because I told you that Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee have this desire to play more. But on the other side, Manchester United still insist to keep players at the club.”

Romano also mentioned that Amorim is aware of how demanding United’s schedule will be over Christmas, despite them not having European football this season.

He added: “Ruben Amorim is insisting to keep them because there will be many games in next months.”

“Okay Man United don’t play European competitions but they’re in a very good moment; there will be many games around Christmas time and end of year.

Fabrizio Romano explains why Ruben Amorim wants to keep Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United

Kobbie Mainoo has drawn attention from clubs due to his lack of playing time under Ruben Amorim, and the midfielder is eager to return to regular first-team action.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now said that the England international remains in Amorim’s plans for the second half of the season, even with Napoli maintaining their interest.

“The second part of the season is going to be very important, so Amorim hopes to keep Kobbie Mainoo,” he added.

“There is interest from Napoli after the injury to Kevin de Bruyne. Napoli wanted the player last summer and remain interested in Kobbie Mainoo.”

Napoli are not alone in their pursuit. Romano also mentioned that West Ham could consider a January approach for the Manchester United midfielder.
