Fan Violence Mars Wolves Win Over West Brom In FA Cup

Sunday's FA Cup game between local rivals West Bromwich Albion and Wolves was suspended for over half an hour following crowd violence at The Hawthorns.

Fighting broke out in the stands shortly after Matheus Cunha had scored to put Wolves 2-0 up in the 78th minute.

Unconfirmed reports claimed that some of the fighting was sparked by away fans celebrating in the home section of the stadium.

A police officer was pushed to the floor before hundreds of fans rushed onto the field of play.

Referee Thomas Bramall then told both sets of players to return to the locker rooms.

Some of the crowd trouble took place near the area of the stadium reserved for players' families.

Meanwhile, the emergency services were called upon to remove trouble-makers, as well as fans who had suffered injuries.

One West Brom fan was seen being led away by two police officers while simultaneously receiving medical treatment.

As he was being escorted away, a section of Wolves fans were heard chanting: "Let him die!"

Missiles were also thrown throughout the game, with one hitting a young ball boy.

Play eventually restarted after a 34-minute stoppage.

The game finished 2-0 to Wolves, who will now host Brighton & Hove Albion in the fifth round next month.
