Another week of Fantasy Premier League is in the books – following the conclusion of the January transfer window, how is your squad looking this week?
In the previous Premier League gameweek, we saw big wins for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, while the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United all slumped to defeat. That aside, who were the top individual performers from this week?
Two goalkeepers scored a total of ten points this week – Bournemouth ‘keeper Djordje Petrovic and Brentford shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher each notched up a tally of 10 points.
There weren’t many stand-out goalkeeping displays over the course of the weekend – only two others, David Raya and Robin Roefs, managed to keep clean sheets.
Nick Pope and Guglielmo Vicario didn’t have the best of gameweeks – despite being two of the most expensive goalkeepers in FPL this year, they could each only muster a point this week.
Again, we have two players who share the highest points totals in terms of defenders. Both Ibrahima Konate and Reinildo racked up an impressive total of 11 points this week – neither of them are massively popular in FPL this year, so congratulations if you had either of them in your team.
Additionally, Sunderland defenders Dom Ballard and Nordi Mukiele also scored well, as they each racked up nine points.
However, a trio of defenders scored a negative points total this week. Both Axel Tuanzebe and Neco Williams ended up with -2, while Leeds’ Gabriel Gudmundsson scored -1.
The award for star player will need to be shared this week – Arsenal’s Noni Madueke and Sunderland’s Habib Diarra both scored 14 points after they each put in fantastic displays against Leeds United and Burnley, respectively.
It was also an excellent week for Alex Scott and Casemiro – they each netted a healthy total of 13 points at the weekend, despite each being chosen by less than 2% of FPL players.
Sadly, the same cannot be said for Brentford’s Kevin Schade. While the Bees managed to record a crucial win over Aston Villa at the weekend, Schade did nothing to improve their chances as he was sent off in the first half and ended up with a points total of -2.
Hugo Ekitike, once again, showed the world what he’s all about with a quickfire brace against Newcastle United on Saturday. For this, the German international went home with a total of 13 points in FPL.
It was a good week for the resurgent Dominic Solanke, too, as he fired a brace beyond Manchester City to score 12 points. On top of this, Chelsea star Joao Pedro also put forth an impressive display – the Brazilian international amassed a total of 10 points for the current gameweek.
On the other end of the spectrum, both of Newcastle’s main centre-forwards, Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, underperformed this week. They each scored just a single point during the Toon’s Saturday night clash with Liverpool – in particular, Woltemade only played 17 minutes, having been brought on as a sub.
