Another set of midweek Premier League fixtures is over – with plenty of top players scoring big, how was your FPL team affected?

We saw some big wins for Newcastle United, West Ham United and Chelsea during gameweek 29 – meanwhile, teams such as Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Leeds United all succumbed to defeat. That aside, which players performed the best in FPL?

Goalkeepers

This week’s star goalkeeper is a player who has been selected by less than 0.04% of all FPL players – Sunderland’s Melker Ellborg took home ten points after he kept a clean sheet against Leeds at Elland Road.

It was also a good week for West Ham’s Mads Hermansen – against the odds, he managed to keep a clean sheet away at Fulham and secured nine points for the gameweek.

We picked Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma as our biggest loser between the sticks – despite being one of the most expensive goalkeepers in FPL, he let in two goals against Nottingham Forest and ended up with a total of just one point.

Defenders

James Tarkowski tops the defending charts this week, with 15 FPL points for his goal and clean sheet against former club Burnley. Additionally, Jurrien Timber netted 13 points for his performance against Brighton.

Furthermore, it was a positive period for Marcos Senesi and Gabriel, as they most conjured up 11 points over the course of gameweek 29.

Micky van de Ven, however, has absolutely no reason to celebrate. His red card against Crystal Palace cost Tottenham in a crucial game – on top of this, he also ended up with -3 points. He wasn’t the only one to get a minus points total – Matty Cash ended up with -1 after Aston Villa were beaten 4-1 by Chelsea.

Midfielders

At one point, Ismaila Sarr was a very popular player on FPL. Given Palace’s recent form, it’s understandable as to why so many FPL players have turn their back on him, but he proved them all wrong against Spurs. He scored twice and went home with a very healthy total of 15 points.

Elliot Anderson and Andre also put in some phenomenal performances for Forest and Wolves, respectively – they each bagged 12 points during midweek.

While Newcastle picked up a huge win over Manchester United at St. James’ Park, it was no thanks to Jacob Ramsey. The former Villa man picked up a second yellow towards the end of the first half, getting himself sent off and ending up with a points total of -2.

Forwards

One player trounced every other striker in FPL this week – Joao Pedro picked up one of the highest points totals of the season when he scored a hattrick and racked up an assist during a rampant Chelsea display at Villa Park.

In total, the Brazilian international returned to Stamford Bridge with 19 points under his belt from gameweek 29.

Again, we have to point the finger at Erling Haaland. He failed to score for the third gameweek in a row against Forest – is he showing signs of slowing down?
