Manchester United’s search for midfield reinforcements continues to dominate their plans for the summer, with the club exploring several options to strengthen Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the new season.
The Red Devils are expected to make major changes in the middle of the pitch after identifying the area as one of the biggest priorities during the transfer window.
With Champions League football secured, United are preparing to compete with Europe’s biggest clubs for some of the continent’s most highly rated midfielders.
The club have already been linked with several elite options as they look to build a more complete midfield unit.
However, another Bundesliga talent has now emerged as one of the names attracting serious attention at Old Trafford, with Manchester United closely monitoring Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha.
The German midfielder has become one of Europe’s most wanted players after making a strong impression during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Felix Nmecha featured three times during the tournament and his performances have increased interest from several top clubs, including both Manchester United and rivals Manchester City.
The 25-year-old is believed to view a move to either Manchester side as an attractive next step, with both clubs offering the opportunity to compete at the highest level, as reported by BILD.
Newcastle United have also been credited with interest, with Eddie Howe’s side reportedly seeing Nmecha as a possible replacement for Bruno Guimaraes should the Brazilian leave St James’ Park.
However, reports suggest Newcastle may not be the strongest option for the Dortmund midfielder, with the Manchester clubs holding greater appeal.
Nmecha’s development has been impressive since leaving England, having started his career at Manchester City’s academy before making three senior appearances for the club.
He later moved to Germany, where spells with Wolfsburg and Dortmund helped him transform into one of the Bundesliga’s most complete midfielders.
His ability to contribute both physically and technically has made him an attractive option for Europe’s elite, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also believed to be keeping track of his progress.
Despite the growing interest, Dortmund remain relaxed about the situation after securing Nmecha’s future with a new contract running until 2030 before the World Cup.
The German club are believed to have placed a valuation on the midfielder, with reports suggesting they would not even consider offers below €120 million, while other reports have indicated a potential asking price closer to £61 million.
Manchester United recruitment director Christopher Vivell has reportedly maintained contact with Nmecha’s representatives as the club continues to assess their midfield options.
Adding another dynamic midfielder remains a key objective for United.
