Fenerbahce officially sign Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood finally has his next club after months of speculation, debate, and reports across the footballing world.

The former Manchester United winger, who came through the club’s youth academy, was with Marseille last season, scoring 26 goals and providing eleven assists.

Those figures built on the 22 goals and five assists he provided for the French club in his first season at the club (the 2024-25 campaign) whilst subsequently helping to build a reputation for goal-scoring.

His era with Marseille has now come to an end, however, with a new one at Fenerbahce beginning.

Greenwood agreed to join the Turkish club last week although Manchester United were holding the deal up from being completed due to the club needing to sign a final official document which states that the club will not exercise their first right of refusal.

The Red Devils later informed Fenerbahce that the club were not interested in activating the buy-back clause for the winger, allowing the deal to go ahead.

Now that deal has been completed with Fenerbahce taking to their official website to announce the signing of the 24-year-old.

A press release, from the Turkish side, reads:

“Our club has reached an agreement with Mason Greenwood, his representatives and Olympique de Marseille over the transfer of the English player.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract.

A total transfer fee of €39 million will be paid to Olympique de Marseille in three equal instalments over three years.

Our club will also cover the solidarity contribution due under FIFA regulations.

We welcome Mason Greenwood to our family and wish him many victories and championships in the yellow and navy colours of Fenerbahce.”

Reports last week from Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United will get over €10m from their sell-on clause in the deal, providing further funds to help the club in the transfer window.

For Mason Greenwood, however, a new era begins in Turkiye, one that he will hope can be successful on the field.
