Fiorentina ultras groups announced they will leave the stands empty for 20 minutes in protest at their dire form. ‘You are trampling on the history of a city and its people. Shame on you all!’
The Viola are in a total and utter crisis, sitting rock bottom of the Serie A table and the only team still without a victory in the tournament this season.
They also scraped through to the Conference League play-offs as one of the seeded teams, despite last night’s 1-0 defeat to Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland.
With a must-win game coming up on Sunday against Udinese, the Fiorentina fans announced they will take a stand at the Stadio Franchi.
“The mess that this team and club is intensifying has now gone beyond any limit of what the Viola fans can handle,” read a statement from the Curva Fiesole group.
“The organised fan clubs therefore announce that for the first 20 minutes of the game between Fiorentina and Udinese, the Curva Fiesole will remain empty.
“We invite all other sections of the stadium to do the same. Our silence and absence is all that is deserved for those who are trampling on the history of a city and its people. Shame on you all!”
Fiorentina have been locked in a training camp at Viola Park since last Sunday, when the club took action after their humiliating 2-1 home defeat to Hellas Verona.
Over 800 fans travelled to Switzerland for last night’s Conference League match and sang throughout, but there has been no improvement in performances or results.
