Five Manchester United contractors charged with assault

Manchester United’s preparations for the upcoming season are continuing as the club aims to be successful once again in the coming months.

The Red Devils, filled with optimism following a positive end to last season under the leadership of Michael Carrick, convincingly won against Rosenberg last week.

Clashes against Atletico Madrid, PSG, Leeds United, and AC Milan are still to follow before the side’s Premier League campaign gets underway on Saturday August 22nd.

Back at Old Trafford, a number of new changes have been made over the summer to improve the stadium for the new season.

The pitch has undergone a full renovation, which influenced United’s opening Premier League game selection, whilst new hospitality seating has been installed as the club aims to generate more revenue.

This decision, alongside further decisions by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have attracted criticism, however, with Ratcliffe having to have extra security with him on match-days.

Now, dark news have cast over Old Trafford with Chris Wheeler, reporting for Daily Mail, reporting that five Manchester United stewards have been charged with assault.

According to the journalist, the men have been accused of assaulting a 49-year-old supporter at a sit-in protest after United’s goalless draw with Manchester City in April 2025.

Mohammed Jamil Akbar, 22, Yaseen Islam, 24, and Mohammed Uzair Iqbal, 24, all from Oldham, Favour Stevenson, 28, from Rochdale, and Usman Hussain, 36, from Manchester, have been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

They are all due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on January 7 next year.

The article states that none of the five men charged were working for Manchester United and we’re instead employed by Controlled Solutions Group, a security company that the club contracted on match-days.

Both United and Controlled Solutions Group have declined to comment on the case at this time.
