Youssouf Fofana feels that he has been welcomed well by his AC Milan team-mates, and expressed his pride at being able to represent the club.

Milan returned to winning ways at Serie A on Saturday evening down as they ran out 1-0 victors against Udinese, but the scoreline doesn’t even begin to tell the story in what was a dramatic encounter full of controversy.

The Rossoneri started the game well and took the lead through Samuel Chukwueze’s first league goal of the season 13 minutes in, though things turned quickly when Tijjani Reijnders saw red before the half-hour mark.

Paulo Fonseca’s men defended resiliently a man down for over 60 minutes, and while the Zebrette thought they had snatched a point in the 95th minute when Kabasele bundled in a scrappy goal, VAR came to the rescue because Ekkelenkamp was offside.

Fofana spoke to DAZN after the game to reflect on what was a hard fought victory in front of over 70,000 home fans, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

You really had to battle for that win…

“It was a great victory, we showed another side of Milan. It wasn’t easy after the red card but we resisted and showed that we can suffer together and move forward.”
