AC Milan will soon turn the page and begin a new era as Stefano Pioli will leave the club, with Paulo Fonseca now the big favourite to replace him.

Milan announced this morning that Pioli will leave the club at the end of the current season, following a tenure of nearly five years at the club which means that tomorrow’s game against Salernitana will be his last with the club.

As Calciomercato.com report, the man who is currently expected to come in and take on the role is Fonseca, who has been mentioned by various sources as a potential candidate for weeks now.

The management believe that the former Roma boss meets a series of requirements indicated by the board, led by Gerry Cardinale, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada.

He has experience, both in Italy and abroad, his style is of an attacking vocation, he is used to working with young players and has a certain appeal, presumably in terms of his charisma.

Fonseca is expected to sign a three-year contract in the next few days. We are at the final details, what remains to be established is whether it will be a two-year deal plus the option of a third or a three-year agreement with the ‘Zorro’.
