Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila makes atmosphere comparison

Speaking after the derby win, Deila said the passion and hostility generated by the Tel Aviv clash compares closely to the fixtures between Celtic and the Ibrox club during his time in charge in Scotland.

Deila said via The National: “The atmosphere in the derby is certainly no less than the atmosphere in Glasgow. It was incredible.”

“The fans were amazing and the occasion at the Bloomfield Stadium was great. It’s always very important to win a derby match against your rivals.”

“We lost our last game and I was proud of the players for showing great character to bounce back like this. We are not thinking about our title chances. We are taking it game by game.”

Meanwhile, Celtic managerial-linked Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros team saw their title hopes take a major hit over the weekend.

The Irish manager watched his side fall short in a crucial showdown against league leaders ETO Gyori, a result that leaves them three points adrift with an inferior goal difference and only three matches remaining.

Having guided the Budapest club to the championship last season, Keane is now facing the prospect of missing out on back-to-back titles.

Away from Hungary, Keane continues to be linked with a potential move to Celtic, where current Martin O’Neill is expected to step down at the end of the season.
