Tottenham’s home form has been a major concern for quite some time. The Lilywhites have managed to win just two Premier League matches at home this season, highlighting their struggles to deliver in front of their supporters. This poor record played a significant role in the North London club’s decline under Thomas Frank, leaving them stuck in the bottom half of the table.
Few expected Spurs to struggle so badly at home after Thomas Frank was appointed as Ange Postecoglou’s successor last summer. The Danish tactician had an impressive home record at the Gtech Stadium during his time at Brentford, remaining unbeaten against top-six opposition on home soil last season. However, he was unable to replicate that success at N17, as the Lilywhites failed to build any momentum at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under his leadership.
Shockingly, Spurs managed to win only four league matches at home in 2025, making them one of the poorest-performing sides in the division on their own turf. The loud jeers and boos from supporters reflected their growing frustration, as results failed to improve under both Ange Postecoglou and Thomas Frank. Despite charging the highest season-ticket prices among Premier League clubs, the Lilywhites have struggled to reward their fans with convincing performances at N17.
Tottenham’s players have simply been unable to perform consistently at home. At one stage this season, the Lilywhites boasted one of the best away records in the Premier League under Thomas Frank, regularly picking up points on their travels. However, their home form told a completely different story, with just two wins all season. This stark contrast was one of the key reasons behind Frank’s dismissal earlier this month.
Stephen Kelly has suggested that the players lack the mentality required to turn their home form around. Speaking to the BBC, Kelly said,
“They need a mentality to be able to perform at home. If you are struggling in front of your own fans and you don’t have the mental strength to be able to turn that around at home and get them back onside, because if you can get back to winning some games that can make a huge difference, but it just doesn’t feel like that is going to change between now and the end of the season.”
Kelly believes Spurs must show greater determination at home if they are to secure their Premier League status. He added that the squad appears to lack the mental resilience needed to handle pressure at their own stadium, resulting in a loss of confidence and growing frustration among supporters. Improving their home form could ultimately determine whether the North Londoners remain in the top flight next season.
Only Wolves have a worse home record than Spurs in the Premier League this season. This underlines just how far the Lilywhites have fallen below expectations and explains the increasingly toxic atmosphere around N17. Such an environment is unlikely to help the players as they attempt to secure the club’s top-flight status in the coming months.
