Former Premier League manager (that’s about as flattering a title as we can give him) Tim Sherwood is still an in demand rent a quote, despite his reputation as a bit of an… well, there’s no need to be rude.

His comments this week about Romelu Lukaku only reinforce that image. He’s today cited as called the striker a “flat track bully,” in stinging quotes from OptusSport picked up by the Chelsea Chronicle.

“Romelu has to do it against the big teams. For me, it’s still a question mark on him. I think he’s fantastic. He takes them [Chelsea] to another level and is better than the players they had in that position. But he’s a flat-track bully. He’s someone who rolls over the lesser teams,” Sherwood commented.

That may be true of his limited games for Chelsea so far (assuming you think of Arsenal as a lesser team), but let’s not forget his brilliant two years in Milan, where he tore apart teams from the top of the league to the bottom.

It may well be that Sherwood turns out to be right, but the time to judge is at the end of a couple of years, not a couple of games.
