Four candidates vying to take over from Daniel Levy at Tottenham; key decision awaits Spurs hierarchy

Tottenham enter the January transfer window facing a new era, and it is one without Daniel Levy at the helm for the first time since 2001. Levy’s departure in early September left a vacuum at the top, with Peter Carrington stepping in as chairman. Now the club must decide who will have the final say on transfers, a role that could define Spurs’ direction for years to come.

Four candidates are in contention to take over the responsibility as per Football Insider. Fabio Paratici is one of the leading options. The Italian, who recently returned to the club in a consultancy capacity following a suspension during his time at Juventus, has played a key role in many of Tottenham’s recent signings. Players such as Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Pedro Porro owe their arrivals to Paratici’s eye for talent, and his pedigree in world football makes him a strong candidate to succeed Levy.

Johan Lange is another contender. The Dane joined Tottenham from the Midlands in October 2023 and has a top reputation in the English top tier. At Aston Villa, he helped bring in players like Matty Cash, Emiliano Martinez, and Ollie Watkins, transforming the club from relegation candidates to European challengers.

Huge boots to fill!

Rebecca Caplehorn brings a different kind of experience. With the club since 2014. Brought in by Levy from QPR. As sporting director, she has a deep understanding of the club’s internal workings and financial planning. Her long-term presence and knowledge of Tottenham’s operations give her a strong platform to lead transfer negotiations and maintain continuity.

Finally, Vinai Venkatesham, the man who moved to the better club in North London, has quickly become the public face of the club’s executive operations. Although he has less direct experience in the transfer market than the others, he knows what that takes thanks to his experience with Arsenal. With the Lewis family keen to avoid day-to-day involvement, Venkatesham could take charge of a committee-led approach.

Whoever steps into Levy’s shoes will inherit a squad that already boasts Champions League football and a strong foundation to build upon. Tottenham have made key summer signings under Tommy Frank and added momentum after the Europa League triumph last season.

Lets see what the next transfer window has to bring about for the club, both in terms of personnel, and handling of operations. It is a first for quite a number of people at Hotspur Lane, and we’ll have to wait and see how things pan out.
