Real Madrid are closing in on a deal to bring Kylian Mbappe to the Spanish capital next month.

The France captain has moved a step closer to joining Los Blancos after confirming his intention to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires.

Mbappe made the decision not to sign a renewal at the Parc des Princes and will leave on a free transfer to Real Madrid.

PSG’s stance on Mbappe has changed in the last 12 months after his initial contract rejection call last summer.

The club firmly stated their commitment to sell him ahead of the 2023/24 season to ensure a fee would still arrive for him in the French capital.

That position has since altered, with Mbappe playing a vital role in PSG’s Ligue 1 title defence in 2024, but the club have been criticised in some quarters.

Former World Cup winner with France, Bixente Lizarazu has laid into the French giants, by claiming Mbappe has effectively been forced out of the club.

“They punished him like a child because he decided not to renew his contract. I don’t see how you can play with all your heart when you have suffered a situation like that”, as per an interview with L’Equipe.
