Fulham star back on Manchester United radar

With Michael Carrick’s Manchester United next playing on Monday 13 April when Leeds United visit Old Trafford, there is plenty of time for club higher-ups to make inroads on summer additions.

It’s undoubtedly going to be a busy period for the Red Devils in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Then, there is the matter of who INEOS will appoint as the next manager.

Will Carrick get the job on a full-time basis or will Luis Enrique, currently boss at Paris Saint-Germain, be offered the chance to manage in the Premier League?

In terms of outgoing players, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund are among those expected to leave the club on a permanent basis.

Elsewhere, signing a new midfielder – on the back of Casemiro announcing that he will not be staying beyond the end of the season – is expected to be sanctioned.

Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo were all signed last summer in an attempt (a successful one at that!) to reinvigorate a beleaguered front line.

That has no doubt worked – and there are now other parts of the starting line-up that needs tweaking.

That is especially the case if Carrick manages to guide his current squad to a spot in next season’s Champions League, irrespective of whether the 44-year-old is around or not.

That includes the left-back position as Luke Shaw has a fairly unreliable record and Patrick Dorgu may be viewed as a forward once he returns from injury.

As a result, Antonee Robinson – who is currently on the books of Fulham – is a player that United are eyeing, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

According to the Italian publication, two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs (Liverpool and Manchester United) are ‘ready to compete’ for the 28-year-old.

Fending off competition from the Reds will no doubt be tricky but the fact that Arne Slot’s side signed Milos Kerkez not too long ago could deter Robinson from moving to Anfield.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that Antonee Robinson has been on the radar of United.

In September 2024, it was reported that the United States international was viewed as cover during Shaw’s injury period. The deal reportedly would’ve cost £40 million.

At present, though, Robinson’s Craven Cottage deal has two years left to run on it and Fulham are in no real rush to sanction his sale.

In 2025/26, the Milton Keynes-born left-back has suffered from injuries of his own, notably with his knee at the start of the campaign, but he’s still played 19 times across all competitions.

He is one of Fulham’s best performers on a weekly basis and Marco Silva will be keen to either not let him go or to ensure that his side are well remunerated if he does leave.
