Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir could leave Manchester United after the arrival of Senne Lammens

This season has been full of confusion and concern in the goalkeeper position for Manchester United. André Onana has been the main goalkeeper since last year and has kept nine clean sheets in the Premier League last season, but his frequent mistakes have shaken the team’s confidence. Last season, he made four mistakes that led directly to a goal, and both goals against Lyon in the Europa League came from his mistakes.

This season, too, he was dismal in the Carabao Cup game. Altay Bayındır, on the other hand, started during Onana’s injury, but his mistakes against Arsenal and Burnley also disappointed fans. He has conceded four goals in three matches, and his save percentage is 55%. The mistakes of both players have also affected the dressing room.

Transfer market in motion:

CaughtOffside reports that Galatasaray are showing interest in both United goalkeepers on deadline Day. They had previously targeted Ederson, but now he is set to move to Fenerbahce, leaving Galatasaray looking at Onana and Bayindir. The report also states that Onana’s high wage demands could be a major hurdle, while Bayindir could prove to be a more viable option. United, meanwhile, have cracked a deal for Senne Lammens.

The way forward:

Onana has the talent, but a series of mistakes has dented the team’s confidence. If Galatasaray take him and United get a good transfer fee, it could be the right time to part ways with him. The 29-year-old’s high wage demands may put off many clubs anyway, so it would be a pragmatic move for United, but it would not be wise to sell both goalkeepers.

Bayindir has made mistakes, but keeping them as backup will provide stability. Lammens will need time to adjust to the Premier League, and Bayindir’s experience could prove to be helpful. The Premier League is not easy for new players, and United will definitely need backups.

After the recent win against Burnley, Ruben Amorim said that United were the better team, and he openly defended our goalkeepers. This support is important, but the reality is that the club will have to find new ways to move forward. Lammens could be a new start. Ultimately, we believe selling Onana and bringing in a new goalkeeper while keeping Bayindir as backup would be the most balanced decision for the club.
