Marcelo Gallardo’s name has been linked with AC Milan over the past 24 hours as his exit from Al Ittihad seems to be imminent, but a report has clarified the situation.

A report from Sky last night claimed that Milan are thinking about Gallardo, who made history with River Plate but is now in the Saudi Pro League with Al Ittihad, a club he is about to leave.

Calciomercato.com confirm that the 48-year-old will be leaving his current team and that the parties are working at a contractual level to dissolve all ties and settle the entire (and expensive) economic issue.

Could a move to Milan be on the cards? In the chaos of contacts that have taken place during the process within the Rossoneri, his name was also proposed by intermediaries to the club.

However, he is not considered an ideal candidate by the management contrary to the report from Sky. Napoli were also among the clubs that took him into consideration, but according to the Argentine press the most likely hypothesis is a return ‘home’.

Indeed, the feeling is that he will go back to River Plate but this time no longer as a head coach. Gallardo dreams of entering the political sphere and could be a strong candidate for Los Millionarios’ presidential elections.
