The news was announced earlier today that many Manchester United fans all expected.

Ruben Amorim was sacked as Man United head coach after 14 months in the role.

The decision to relieve Amorim of his duties comes a day after United drew 1-1 away from home to bitter rivals Leeds United.

After going a goal down, United levelled proceedings thanks to a strike from summer signing Matheus Cunha.

Further problems developed between Amorim and Director of Football Jason Wilcox and comments from the now former United head coach sparked concerns of an end to his time at the club.

The news has sparked plenty of debate from fans and pundits alike.

Former United captain and current Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville spoke to Sky Sports News to share his thoughts on the matter.

“Manchester United must take risks, be courageous and play attacking, aggressive football.

“Ajax will never change for anybody. Barcelona will never change for anybody. I don’t believe Man United should change for anybody. They should play in the way in which they play.

“These managers that have come in are fantastic managers: Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim, they’re brilliant coaches.

“You can’t say they’re not good coaches, but they’ve all come in with different ideas, different styles of play, different philosophies, and none of them really fit the Manchester United way.

”So for me, the club have to find the manager now who’s got experience, who’s willing to play fast, entertaining, attacking aggressive football, simple as that.”

As a former Manchester United star, Gary Neville has a vested interest in the club and clearly thinks the club needs to turn back to what it’s known for.

United’s next game sees them take on Burnley before an FA Cup tie against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is in charge for the Premier League encounter with Burnley and could be set for a longer stint in the role.
