Atalanta have still not found any sort of agreement with coach Gian Piero Gasperini over a new contract, despite a fresh round of negotiations taking place on Saturday.

The Europa League-winning coach is under contract in Bergamo until next summer, in 2025, although amidst a lot of interest, particularly from Napoli and Aurelio De Laurentiis, even more so after Wednesday’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta are keen to tie the coach down for another few years.

Gasperini, too, is keen on staying put with Atalanta according to Saturday’s reports, so much so that he has reportedly requested a deal that runs until 2027, while the club had only considered a deal until 2026.

Given that Gasperini’s current contract expires in 2025, a new deal until 2026 does not cement any long-term guarantees.

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, the coach and his employers could meet to discuss the matter again later this evening.

Napoli flip between Gasperini and Conte

And fortunately for La Dea, Napoli currently seem more intent on reaching an agreement with Antonio Conte, rather than Gasperini. The weekend’s reports suggest that Saturday could be a key day in discussions between the former Italy CT and the Partenopei.
