The latest updates claim that there is a ‘concrete possibility’ that Atalanta and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini go their separate ways in the summer following a meeting between the coach, the Percassi family, Stephen Pagliuca and Tony D’Amico on Tuesday.

Gasperini is still under contract with Atalanta until the summer of 2026, but hinted earlier in the season that his time with La Dea might be coming to an end.

“At the end of the season, we’ll see whether to let the contract run out or stop earlier,” he said in February

Gasperini was briefly linked with a move to take over from Claudio Ranieri as head coach of Roma, but the Giallorossi boss ruled out the possibility of an approach.

Still, Gasperini’s future with Atalanta remains uncertain, despite a meeting with the club’s senior management on Tuesday.

‘Concrete possibility’ Gasperini leaves Atalanta

The club owners, CEO and sporting director were all in attendance for Tuesday’s round of talks with the coach.

While recent reports claim that Atalanta are prepared to offer Gasperini a 12-month extension to his deal, which would see him through until 2027, there are now suggestions that he is leaning towards a farewell.

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia and others, there is now a ‘concrete possibility’ that Gasperini leaves Atalanta.

According to Tuesday’s updates, there was no discussion regarding the team, budget or signings. Instead, the parties involved discussed the motivations behind a possible stay and a possible departure.

Meanwhile, reports from various outlets and journalists, including Alfredo Pedulla , suggest that Igor Tudor is among the potential candidates to take over at Atalanta in the event that Gasperini leaves.

There has also been mention of the currently-available Roberto Mancini and Maurizio Sarri, who has also been linked with Milan and a return to Lazio.
