Gavin Beith to join Manchester United

Gavin Beith is set to join Manchester United as the club continue making changes during the closing stages of the summer window.

United have already completed significant business under Michael Carrick, with midfield receiving the biggest overhaul.

Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos both arrived earlier in the summer before Carlos Baleba completed the trio this week.

The Baleba deal brought renewed optimism after months of speculation, although United still appear to have work to do before the deadline.

Left-back remains one of the most obvious areas to strengthen.

Alejandro Balde, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Lewis Hall have all been linked with moves to Old Trafford during the window.

Fabrizio Romano also revealed on Friday that United are still working on a solution in that position.

The transfer expert suggested the club could pursue an experienced international-level option rather than another superstar name, comparing the possible deal to Sergio Reguilon’s loan move in 2023.

United supporters are therefore watching closely for late business, although the latest incoming name concerns a very different area of the club.

Who is Gavin Beith?

Gavin Beith is not arriving as a new player for Carrick’s first team.

Instead, The Cutback reporter Conner Roberts has revealed that Beith is set to join Eva Olid’s coaching staff with Manchester United Women.

The 44-year-old is a former midfielder who began his playing career with Dundee before spells with East Fife, Peterhead, Brechin City, Arbroath and Forfar Athletic.

He later moved into coaching and built significant experience in the women’s game.

Beith spent six years in charge of Dundee United Women before joining Aberdeen Women as joint head coach in 2021.

He then became an assistant at Hearts Women in 2023, where he worked alongside Olid.

That relationship will now reportedly be renewed at United.

Roberts also reports that assistant coach Carl Green is expected to leave following Marc Skinner’s departure earlier this month.

Scott Rogers and Dan Bale are currently still part of the wider coaching setup as Olid reshapes her staff before the new WSL season begins.
