Guglielmo Vicario is reportedly Inter’s priority target to replace Yann Sommer in 2026-27, but Juventus have emerged as a potential rival in the race for the Tottenham goalkeeper.
Inter and Juventus will meet in the Derby d’Italia at San Siro next Saturday, but the two Serie A giants could also find themselves competing away from the pitch during the summer transfer window.
According to Gazzetta, in fact, both clubs are keeping an eye on Italy international Vicario.
Inter have been thinking about Vicario for a few months as they prepare to replace Yann Sommer in 2026-27. The 37-year-old’s contract expires in June, and Inter are not expected to offer him a new deal.
Vicario is said to be Inter’s priority target for next summer. The Italian goalkeeper has plenty of Serie A experience, and he’d consider a return to the Peninsula if a top club knocks on his door, although he’s still happy at Tottenham.
The only concern for Inter is tied to Tottenham’s asking price, not expected to be below €25m.
Juventus are one of the potential contenders as Michele Di Gregorio is no longer considered ‘untouchable’ in Turin, while Mattia Perin could leave to get more time elsewhere in Serie A.
Therefore, the Bianconeri are open to making a change between the sticks next season if an appealing opportunity arises.
Vicario is Italy’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Gigio Donnarumma. A former Empoli, Cagliari and Udinese shot-stopper, Vicario has kept 13 clean sheets in 36 appearances this season. He has collected five appearances with the Italy national team, making his debut in March 2024.
