Celtic are on the verge of confirming the signing of Tomas Cvancara. The Czech striker is set to be the second signing of the January window, arriving on a loan with an option to buy deal from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Cvancara is undergoing his medical and will join the Scottish Champions ahead of Sunday’s trip to face Hearts at Tynecastle. The 25-year-old will be looking to recapture the form from Slavia Prague that earned him a €10m move to Gladbach in 2023.
Despite a brace on debut, the lofty striker has not found the form in Germany and is expected to depart permanently in the summer with Celtic holding an option on the player. As reported by Kicker, the Bundesliga side want £6.9m for the striker if Celtic are to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Celtic will be hoping to get more players into the club before the weekend’s meeting with Hearts. The Jambos have a number of notable absentees with skipper Lawrence Shankland out injured alongside Cammy Devlin and Beni Baningime. There is expected to be more movement from Celtic’s end and the work appears to be ongoing as Shaun Maloney works with ex-Chelsea international scout James Bell-Walker in order to identify players for MON’s team.
Mark Fotheringham is also believed to be involved with the recruitment side and there appears to be a focus on the German market, which Fozzy knows well after his time working in Berlin.
