Defender Yann Bisseck has increased his value by at least three times with his performances in his first season at Inter Milan.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

When Inter signed Bisseck last summer, they did so for the quite modest fee of €7 million.

That was still a substantial investment considering that Bisseck had only really shone in the Danish top flight. It was never certain that he’d be able to make the step up to Serie A.

But it was far from what Inter would have had to pay for a more establish centre-back.

Compare that figure to, for example, the nearly €40 million that the Nerazzurri shelled out to bring 27-year-old Benjamin Pavard to the San Siro from Bayern Munich.

Yann Bisseck Sees Valuation Soar From €7M In First Season At Inter Milan

In the first fourteen matches of the season, Tuttosport note, Bisseck did little to suggest that his value would be going up.

The German played just twelve minutes in total in three cameo appearances from the bench.

But late in the fall, Bisseck started to get his chances.

The 23-year-old made his first two starts for Inter in the Champions League. These were far from perfect displays as some understandable nerves and lack of polish were apparent.

But Bisseck was confident. He looked like a player who had spent his first months at Inter working quietly out of the limelight to improve tactically and settle in.

And that came in handy in December. An injury crisis in defense meant that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi turned to Bisseck.

The German made a series of Serie A starts during late December. These proved to be more impressive than his Champions League starts.

Despite his age and relative lack of top-level experience, Bisseck showed real composure in addition to his obvious physical and technical qualities as a defender.

And the 23-year-old also scored his first goal for Inter – against Lecce – in December.

That sequence of starts ensured that Inter kept Bisseck around. The likes of Frosinone and Torino were interested in signing the defender in January.

Those clubs could have offered Bisseck more playing time, perhaps. But the 23-year-old was proving to be on the right trajectory at Inter.

The return of Pavard has meant that so far in 2024, Bisseck has been anything but a regular starter.

But the German got his chance against Bologna.

In that match, Bisseck’s quality was on full display. The highlight reel moment was the 23-year-old’s very well-taken goal, but just as impressive was his defensive display to help Inter to a clean sheet.

Now, there is a sense that Bisseck isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He has his place in the defensive rotations at Inter.

But if the Nerazzurri were to listen to offers for the German, there’s little doubt that the price tag would be north of €20 million.
