Tottenham are interested in signing Jack Grealish from Man City in the summer

A massive squad overhaul is needed at Tottenham in the summer if the club wants to close the gap on their rivals next season. The Lilywhites managed to end the season on a high after winning the Europa League, but that should not overshadow the disastrous domestic campaign Ange’s men endured. The North London club needs to bring in reinforcements in the summer to right the wrongs before heading into a new season.

Many key players struggled to get going for Spurs this season, which costed the team some crucial results. The Lilywhites wrote the domestic campaign off midway through the season and focused solely on the Europa League as that was the only way to save their blushes heading into the summer.

The inconsistent performances by key players proved to be catastrophic for Spurs in the Premier League. Club captain Heung-Min Son just did not perform as per his standards this season. Last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke also found life tough at N17 at the start. However, it is fair to say that the Englishman found his feat and proved to be a crucial player in the second half of the season.

Martin Allen believes Man City star Jack Grealish will do well at Tottenham

There is no surprise that Tottenham are linked with several attackers heading into the transfer market. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites were interested in signing Jack Grealish in the summer as they look to replace Heung-Min Son. The Manchester City star has endured a tough spell at the Etihad Stadium and needs to move in the summer to resurrect his career again.

Now, former Brentford boss Martin Allen has also backed Grealish to make the move to N17 in the summer. Speaking to Tottenham News, Allen said,

“He doesn’t look fit, he doesn’t look mobile and is without that speed and tenacity to score goals and make things happen. I’m not sure what his attitude is like around the training ground, so I’m not sure how he’ll resurrect his career.”

The former Brentford boss added,

“At the moment, he’s just not doing enough to get in the team. Working with Postecoglou could well be what he needs. He likes ball players, players who glide with the ball, so maybe Postecoglou will want to take him on board at Tottenham to get his career going again.”

Martin Allen has suggested that Jack Grealish is lacking all the attributes that made him the standout player he was at Aston Villa. The former Brentford boss added that the England international is not doing enough to get into the City team and working with Ange Postecoglou might help him save his career. Allen also points out that Big Ange prefers players who like to dribble and weave past defenders, so Grealish would fit in perfectly at N17 under Ange Postecoglou.

The Manchester City star was left out of the matchday squad on the final day of the Premier League as well. This just intensified the rumours of Grealish heading for the exit doors in the summer. The big money signing has just not worked out well for all parties involved and moving to Spurs would just be what the 29-year-old needs to get going again.

  • Signing the ex-Aston Villa star would mean that Heung-Min Son would lose his place in the starting eleven. The England international would provide a different dynamic to the attack and his experience would prove to be a difference maker as Spurs would look to build on the Europa League success next season and kickstart a new era at N17.
