Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has named the current Chelsea player who has ‘grown up a lot’ in the last year.

The Blues legend was watching on as Chelsea drew 2-2 against Brentford on Saturday night as domestic football returned after an international break.

The Blues were held to a draw by a spirited performances by The Bees, but really they should have won the game after a late goal put them 2-1 up after being a goal behind early doors. Cole Palmer provided the equalising goal with a typical ice cold finish after he was introduced as a sub in the second half, and his introduction was needed.

But it was Moises Caicedo who thought he had scored the winning goal for Chelsea late on with a superb finish. But it wasn’t to be in the end as Chelsea allowed Brentford to scramble a goal in with a late long throw in.

Caicedo isn’t a player who we regular see get on the scoresheet for Chelsea but it appears then when he does score a goal, it’s usually a pretty nice one!

Zola on Caicedo

Zola believes Caicedo has grown up a lot in the last year. As cited on X, Zola said after the game:

“Caicedo has grown up a lot. In the last year and a half, he’s got better at finishing.”

Caicedo is world class

For me, he is Chelsea’s best player. He’s our most consistent player over the last couple of seasons and I can safely describe him as a world class player now. He just does it all and has it all in his game.
