Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili looks as if he will be the first big sale of the summer for Los Che, with a Premier League move on the cards. Last summer he was not far off a move to Bayern Munich, according to the player himself.

Speaking to GO Team, as carried by Diario AS, Mamardashvili explained that his future would be resolved soon, and that he could have moved last summer, but Bayern could not agree terms with Valencia.

“My agent visited Munich to find an apartment. But as far as I know, in the end they refused to pay €35m for me.”

The Madrid-based outlet goes on to report that talks are ongoing with Newcastle United for Mamardashvili. The latest was that Valencia were seeking €40m for the Georgian, but Newcastle’s offer was closer to €25m plus €5m in variables. Now it appears that their offer has been raised, and they are closing in on a deal closer to the demands of Valencia.

The Bats have already sealed the signing of Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievksi on a two-year deal for free, who will replace Mamardashvili as number one in goal. Given the frugal nature of Peter Lim’s reign, it’s safe to assume Valencia believe an agreement will be found, if they have sanctioned spending on his replacement.
