Girona coach Michel was left frustrated after last night's defeat to Villarreal.

Bertrand Traore struck for Villarreal's 1-0 win in Cataluyna.

Michel said: "In football you have to score goals. Throughout the year we have scored many, but today... In the first half we finished little compared to the dominance we had. In the second we did not have the day in front of goal I think we should have finished more plays in the first half.

"They defended well and we lacked finishing. We have to finish in the best way. We can't let ourselves go in this situation. They scored a goal in the last play of the game when we had situations to make it 1-3 or 1-4. We are leaving with a tough defeat. The team has not let go.

"Today in the first half we looked little at goal. We went a lot down the right flank, but we lacked being aggressive. Look at the area and be aggressive. I'm happy with the second half. We went after the rival, we generated, we shot and we had more presence in the area. I needed to do the same in the first half as in the second. We are the team that generates the most goals today. Sometimes these things happen. But we could have won."

On finishing second, Michel said: "I find it very difficult. Bara, winning two, already have it and can win all three games. It is a very complicated situation for second position. I see everyone very engaged. These players just have to be applauded for the season what they are doing. After Barcelona won we had two games that we could have won and we only added one point."
