AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has hinted that he would like to receive some tips from Andriy Shevchenko ahead of the Champions League semi-final against Inter.

The French striker was speaking during an interview with Prime Video (via Milan News) when was asked about a former Milan striker that he is known to be a huge fan of.

Giroud has explained in the past that Shevchenko is his hero and given the Ukrainian scored the goal that took Milan through when this same fixture took place last in 2003, Giroud suggested he may ask for some tips.

“My favourite player. If I can get one or two tips on how to approach this wonderful game…” Giroud said.

Giroud was also asked about his desire to score in a Derby della Madonnina again and he discussed the song the Milan fans sang for him when he last achieved that feat.

“I am very proud of the song that the fans dedicated to me after the derby and I hope to score again,” he said.

Giroud has long been vocal about the fact he almost signed for Inter before he joined Milan. He explained again why he stayed at Chelsea for one more year before choosing Milan.

“For me it was a sign of destiny: I am a Christian and I knew I had to stay at Chelsea to win the Champions League. It was written. When I arrived in Milan I received a magnificent welcome, for me it was right and best to sign for Milan,” he explained.
