Giuntoli Sketches Out Strategy to Fix Juventus Squad

Juventus failed to beat Torino in the Derby, but the four points they conquered in the last two rounds, and Serie A being almost a lock to have five Champions League teams next season, allow Cristiano Giuntoli to start focusing on the transfer market more than during their lengthy slump.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri will have a richer budget than in the last two windows, about €30/40M. If they want to spend more, they’ll have to sell somebody. They have several talents out on loan, and some will leave permanently.

Others will have a chance to stay put in Turin, also depending on their coach. Giuntoli aims to create the right mix of youth and experience and significantly deepen the Juventus squad. The top teams will have to play 50/60 matches next campaign. Their bench has been lacking this year.

The director is after more free agents on top of Felipe Anderson and is searching for bargains but is unlikely to rush his decisions about new signings. He’ll focus on the current squad at first. He’d like to remove the biggest question marks, making definitive calls on the players who either have short-term contracts, earn too much, need more game time, or aren’t ready to play at a high level.
