Gonzalo Garcia’s form for Real Madrid is pretty good at the moment. After having an indifferent start to the season, the 21-year-old Spaniard has now scored a goal in each of their last two matches, including in the final of the Supercopa de España against Barcelona, and has thus staked a claim for being worthy of being given more game time. Prior to that, he had scored a hat-trick against Real Betis.

Real Madrid are going through turmoil at the moment, as they have parted ways with manager Xabi Alonso. Alvaro Arbeloa is the interim manager at the moment, but he has had a shocking start to his regime, as Real Madrid lost to Albacete in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey recently. In such a scenario, Gonzalo Garcia’s form is good news for Los Blancos.

Gonzalo Garcia’s Form Might Help Him Have a Breakthrough Season

Gonzalo Garcia’s form is very important for both himself and his team. Garcia is already a UEFA Champions League and La Liga winner with Real, but he played in only two matches during the 2023/24 season in order to achieve that feat.

However, he played in 10 matches last season and scored five goals for the senior Real Madrid team. That same season, he played for the junior team of the club, Real Madrid Castilla, and scored a record-breaking 25 goals for them. He has good ball-skills and is six feet tall, which makes him quite good in the air, too.

During the current season, he has scored five goals in 21 matches for Los Blancos. It has been difficult for him to get a start for the star-studded team, with Kylian Mbappe mostly playing as the centre-forward.

Mbappe has been in great form this season, scoring a very impressive 29 goals in 25 matches. However, some injury issues for him have meant that Gonzalo has been getting more minutes on the pitch of late. It is very important for him that Arbeloa keeps on having faith in him, as it is a very crucial juncture in his career.

Breaking Into the Spanish National Team Might Still Be Difficult

Currently, Gonzalo Garcia’s form might be enough to help him break into the Spanish national team. He has already played for the Spanish under-21 team already, but there are a number of candidates for the place of the centre-forward in the national team set-up. There are people like Mikel Oyarzabal, Alvaro Morata and Ferran Torres, who are all much more experienced than Gonzalo.

However, Gonzalo has age on his side and will surely be able to earn his first cap for his country pretty soon. Still, for that to happen, he will have to keep performing for Real Madrid and hopefully, win more titles with them.

As of now, he is one of the most promising young players Spain have. Should things stabilise at Real Madrid, it should help him further improve his focus and come up with even better performances.

It remains to be seen whether Arbeloa, a young manager himself, decides to retain the faith on Gonzalo on the basis of Gonzalo Garcia’s form. He will need some support from Florentino Perez, the club president, too.
