Gotham FC names former player Yael Averbuch West to interim GM role

Gotham FC of the National Women's Soccer League is set to name Yael Averbuch West its interim general manager and head of soccer operations, The Athletic reported on Tuesday.

Averbuch West replaces Alyse LaHue, who was fired in July. LaHue's dismissal was based on the results of an investigation by the NWSL into whether she had violated the league's anti-harassment policy. She had been with Gotham FC for three years.

The club is also naming Stephanie Lee as their interim assistant general manager and Kristin Bernert as interim head of business operations, The Athletic said.

Averbuch West started her professional soccer career with Gotham FC after the club, then named Sky Blue FC, drafted her in 2009. She played for multiple teams before suspending her playing career in 2019 following a battle with ulcerative colitis.
