Guglielmo Vicario reveals how Tottenham experience changed him

Vicario was sidelined with an injury for the final seven games of the season and never played for the Lilywhites since before joining the Old Lady in August. Martin Dubravka joined Spurs earlier in the transfer window on a free transfer from Burnley, which was a clear signal that Vicario’s chapter in N17 has come to an end.

Now, the 29-year-old has opened up on his time at Tottenham. He appeared grateful for his valuable experience at White Hart Lane in England.

“I hope I can say I’m more mature and more aware, with a different set of experiences. Going abroad opens you up: you experience different cultures, languages, situations, different dressing rooms, different methodologies,” Vicario said in an interview to Sky Italia (h/t Tuttosport).

“I’ll definitely arrive more complete, even if without the path I’ve taken previously it wouldn’t have been possible. I’m arriving at a club with a huge history, structure, and ambition, and this will be the challenge that drives me every day.

“I don’t like to talk about the past or what should or could have been done. There were some dynamics that didn’t align, probably for various reasons that don’t make sense to mention now. I want to focus on the present and try to maintain balance in this new adventure.”

A change in scenery seems to be doing wonders for Vicario. The ex-Tottenham man has made a strong start to his Juventus career, keeping clean sheets in his opening two Serie A matches.

The Tottenham officials will now keep a close eye on how the 29-year-old performs in Italy, as that will determine whether the Bianconeri trigger the option to buy. In the event Vicario impresses, Juve should have no qualms over activating his £8.6 million buy clause.
